Module 1 First Assignment - Data, Visualization, Knowledge & Models
The following visualization was taken from the human rights organization VisualizingPalestine.org. It represents the rise of anti-boycott legislation in the United States, with the incipience of this trend in 2014 - legislation against the boycott of the State of Israel. I chose this visualization because of its pertinence to the political climate today, as it reflects domestic legislative responses to the international crisis of the genocide of the Palestinian people, as well as the effect of this legislation setting a precedent for other anti-boycott legislation in other areas of the political arena in the United States. The data is visualized as groups of circles representing individual laws against boycotting, which are color coded to represent specific categories of laws, and shaded to represent their status of legislation.
